4 Easy DIY Essential Oil Sprays

4 Easy DIY essential oil sprays. Bathroom cleaning spray, air-freshening spray, bug spray and fabric/carpet spray. All natural sprays for your home. www.paintedteacup.comAs many of you know, I LOVE ESSENTIAL OILS! I have been using them as natural health alternatives but I have been making efforts to use essential oils more and more in my home!

We all (well most people) use so many chemicals in our homes from cleaning products, air freshens, fabric sprays, perfumes/body sprays, insect repellents and so much more! Take a second to think about all of the chemical cleaning/freshening products in your home… For most homes I bet the list is close to 20 or more products!

The number of chemical cleaners we use is getting crazy! But it is so easy to just go to the store and grab what we need… who has time to make their own cleaners?!? Cleaning in itself is enough of a chore!

Don’t worry- I HATE CLEANING so I am definitely not interested in making it any more of a chore than necessary! That being said I have made some easy and useful sprays for my home which have taken very little time to make! Today I am going to share those essential oil sprays with you 🙂

4 Easy DIY Essential Oil Sprays

Bathroom Cleaning Spray

I use this spray for cleaning our shower, sink, counter top and toilet! It works so well! This spray works so well because melaleuca and lemon both have disinfecting properties and melaleuca has deodorizing properties. I also add in a bit of white fir essential oil as it is good for keeping mildew at bay.  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A glass or aluminum spray bottle
  • 1 cup of Water
  • 1/2 cup White Vinegar
  • 8 drops of Lemon essential oil
  • 8 drops of Melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil
  • 6 drops White Fir essential oil

Bug Repelling Spray

We used this when we were camping and the bugs were out like crazy. To say I didn’t get bit would be a BIG lie… but I always seem to get eaten alive. My husband also used this spray and only got 4-5 bites the whole weekend so it definitely works!

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle. Mist on skin and clothes to keep the bugs away. Make sure to shake the bottle before use as the oils will settle to the top after being stored.

Carpet and Fabric Spray

We are lucky as we don’t have much carpet or fabric furniture in our home but there are still times it needs freshening! Here’s what I use in our freshening spray

  • Glass spray bottle
  • ½ cup of Water
  • 4 drops of Lavender essential oil
  • 4 drops of Bergamot essential oil

Mix together and voila! Make sure to shake the bottle before use as the oils will settle to the top after being stored.

Now that you have the recipe, where do you plan to store it? On a scrap of paper? Pinterest? Written on whatever was near you at the time? I was always finding great essential oil recipes but didn’t have a place to store them! This resulted in scraps of paper that often got lost or pinterest pins that got buried on my boards. So I decided to solve this problem by creating my Essential Oil Toolkit & Recipe Journal! 1. Great recipes! I haven’t done much with essential oils so this gives me some great ideas on how to use them.

  2. I have just started to use more natural products so these are great tips for me. Will definitely try the bathroom spray. I hate aerosol fresheners!

  3. You know I always thought it was really hard or time consuming to make your own cleaners or that they didn’t clean effectively getting rid of flu virus and stuff, but if it really does disinfect, then I will totally do this. I bet it could end up being cheaper in the long run.

  4. This is so awesome! I really should get essential oil soon as I’ve been hearing great things about them and I’m all for natural non toxic things. Thank you for sharing this

  5. Love all of these ideas! I love our homemade bug spray compared to store bought ones – much better smelling and better for me!

  6. I make my own carpet and fabric sprays with essential oils too. Plus, I clean with vinegar and oils. I can’t handle a lot of commercial products they make me sick. But, I dont like the smell of vinegar either LOL so essential oils really help me with that.

I would love to hear from you... leave me your thoughts!
