Yesterday my mom and I traveled from my hometown in Southwestern Ontario to Thunder Bay to pick up my sister who has just finished college. We left at 6am and arrived just after mid-night. Needless to say it was a ridiculously long day, especially since neither one of us slept during the drive! Luckily essential oils were there to save the day 🙂 I honestly don’t think we would have been able to stay awake and functioning without them… no matter how many Tim’s stops we made!
There are so many reasons why I love essential oils!
After sitting for a long period of time, the Soothing Blend came to my rescue! I have a chronic pain condition which means that long trips usually aren’t my best friend. This blend provided some much-needed soothing relief when my muscles were sore and aching from sitting in the same position for an extended period of time.
We rented a van for our trip which was awesome as we had XM radio. Although there are many stations to listen to, after a certain number of hours you start to feel bored and tired and thinking “are we there yet”?!?! During these moments (3 different occasions) we used the Joyful Blend on the sides of our necks to help lift our spirits and give us some much-needed energy. Essential oils usually stay in your system for 3-4 hours which is why we used this blend so much during our trip.
I was very lucky to receive a car diffuser as a Christmas gift this past Christmas! For the majority of our trip we had either Wild Orange or Peppermint running in the diffuser to help keep us alert and again provide ongoing energy. If you don’t have a car diffuser you can inhale either oil by placing 1-2 drops on your hands and breathing in through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. I didn’t bring my fur-baby with me on this trip, but on a recent (shorter, 7 hour) trip I used Lavender on my dog who gets quite upset in the car. Learn all about using essential oils with dogs!
I hope this helps to inspire your next road trip! Have you used essential oils while traveling? If so, I would love to hear which ones you have used or what you would like to try in the future!
