This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. This is a topic that we need to talk more about. We need to eliminate the stigma about mental illness and talking about it is a great way to start. Since people can easily relate to quotes, I thought that sharing some mental health quotes would be a good way to start raising awareness!
Did you know at least 1 in 5 people have a mental health concern of some sort. That means it is likely that you or someone in your immediate family is struggling with their mental health. Think of your loved ones, can you image them having to deal with stigma? A stigma that causes people in need of help to keep it to themselves. To put on a happy face when they are hurting so deeply inside. No one deserves that! Dealing with mental illness is extremely hard on it’s own, doing so in silence makes it that much harder.
If you know someone with a mental health concern, reach out and talk to them. Let them know that while you may not understand what they are feeling, you are there for them and are supportive of them. Remind them that they are loved.
Here is a great resource for friends and family of someone who is struggling with a mental health concern SEE THE BOOK HERE!
If you are struggling with your mental health, share this post with your loved on to help get the conversation started.
Everyone deserves to be loved, supported, and respected!
Here are some mental health quotes that I think will resonate with many people.
In case you want any of these quotes in your home, I have linked to some amazing products that feature the quotes for your convenience below. I also love the idea of printing them out and pasting them in a mental health journal (this oneis would be perfect!).

I hope at least one of these mental health quotes resonated with you in some way! If you are able, discuss mental health awareness in some way this week. Share a post on Facebook, post a status update, send a tweet, send a text, make a call. Help us to break the silence and eliminate mental health stigma!
I just saw a spoken word poetry video on depression, and it made the point that you can only see the beauty of the stars in the darkness. How true that is! It’s only when we struggle with the darkness that we can see a beauty we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
I adore all of these! A few months ago I stopped sleeping. I went and got every blood test possible done. My doctor told me they all came back fine. My doctor spent an hour talking to me and after I told him several things he asked me about anxiety… I TOLD him no I wasn’t broken. I was scared to be mentally ill…. I was scared for others to know I was mentally ill. I lied said I was fine, there was something else wrong. Made him do more blood test. More physical exams. I was wrong it turns out I have hyper awareness anxiety. I was on edge all the time, I was always worried. . After another month of only an hour or two of sleep a day I was ready to admit defeat and talk to my doctor about the fact I had anxiety. That I needed help. I am so happy that I did. I have never been happier and realized that I suffered from this my whole life. I wish I would have been scared before and got help sooner. I really love this quote ***One small crack does not mean that you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn’t fall apart*** Made me think of the fact I was so scared of being thought of as broken and that I wasn’t, not at all.
“I fight for my health every day in a way most people don’t understand. I’m not lazy. I’m a warrior.” -Unknown. This is the best quote in the list for me. I do not suffer from a mental illness, but I suffer from a chronic disease – Diabetes. It is depressing to know that I will never get well and that my silence is just me thinking about the “what ifs.” I hope more people will be more compassionate towards others.
