3 Steps to Set Up Your Spring & Summer for Success

Spring snuck up on us rather quickly, didn’t it? We were just bringing in the New Year!

As we leave behind the most depressing season, it is important that we begin to usher in good times and positive vibes with purpose and strategy. I know you want to make this year your best year yet (or at least better than last year) but in order to make changes happen in your life, you have to let go of your negative habits and thoughts and replace them with new habits and more positive thoughts. I know that being and thinking more positively is easier said than done, but I have 3 simple steps that, when implemented in your life daily, will blow your mind and enhance your life.

Here’s what you will need to get started:

  • 15 to 20 minutes
  • The app 30/30 (free in the app store) or a timer
  • A journal and a writing utensil

The steps I am about to share with you are so simple and easy, but can really make a big difference in your life because it will encourage you to think more creatively and listen to the desires that you hide deep down in your soul cavity because you think you don’t deserve them or you think you don’t have what it takes to experience them. Even if you aren’t able to experience these things, it still feels empowering to allow yourself to dance with those thoughts and desires as if you are or can experience them now!

The first step to set your summer (and the rest of your year) up for success:

I know you may have rolled your eyes, but this step is important! Sitting or lying down with intention can be very relaxing and give you a break from running away from your hopes and desires. Set your timer for 5 minutes and just sit or lie down in silence. You don’t have to close your eyes or play spa music (unless you want to) but simply sit with yourself and breath. Focus on the thoughts that come up and pay attention to how those thoughts make you feel.

Write about what you REALLY want

For 5 more minutes, write in your designated journal what you really, truly want. I put emphasis on REALLY because we tend to write about what we think we should want, which may not be what you want to the core. For 5 minutes straight, write about what you truly want and elaborate. Do you simply want to relax today? Write it down and dive deeper. “I want to relax all day today, finally get my room cleaned, start looking for a new job…maybe book a trip to Japan.” Let those desires roll. The purpose of writing down your deep desires (even if they seem to simple to believe…like taking a nap) will motivate you to take action towards those goals or satisfy you emotionally which will keep your mind positive and happy, helping you bring in moments and people into your life that you want. Last spring, I wrote in my want journal that I really wanted to talk to new faces and be heard. I work from home so I don’t have a lot of opportunity to meet and speak with people. A few days after writing that down in my journal, I ended up having an opportunity to go out to lunch with some old coworkers of mine and the waiter was so friendly to us (a little too friendly…he asked for my number!).

I told my friend about the exercise and she shared with me that she wrote down that she wanted more money. Believe it or not, she got a check in the mail from her electric company. They had been over charging her and reimbursed her for the difference. You never know what may happen for you if you are honest with yourself about what you want. An idea may fall into your head and inspire you to take action, or in some rare instances what you want may find you.

Write about what you’re grateful for

Depending on your personality & perspective, this portion may be hard for you. You may feel like you don’t have much to be grateful for, but I know you do. When I had the opportunity to travel abroad, I have never been more grateful for wifi and my family. It took me being in another country (and traveling with another family) to see how much love I have for them.

There may be some moments from your past that you are grateful for because they made you who you are today. For 5 minutes, pick one or two things you are grateful and elaborate on why you are grateful from them. This is a lot easier than finding multiple things to be grateful at a time. Writing about what you are grateful for, past or present, helps you see the fullness of your life. It’s easy to get lost in the future and worrying about it daily, but showing gratitude for anything in your life helps you catch back up with yourself in the present, which will influence how you will feel in the future.

So how will following these 3 steps help set you up for success and joy?

Meditation helps you clear your mind of clutter and helps focus on your what matters most to you. Facing those thoughts can influence what you desire, which will influence what you do and what you attract.

Writing down what you desire will help you feel refreshed, focused, motivated, and gives you chance to truly understand why you want what you want, and to determine if it’s something you even want to experience in your life.

Writing about what you are grateful for keeps you grounded & full, promoting less anxiety about the future. We can lose a lot of time worrying constantly about the future. Identifying what you are grateful for shows that you are capable of having wonderful things, people, and experiences in your life, which can be an indicator of what your future will look like.

When I started doing this 15 minutes exercise, I noticed a shift almost immediately. The best part is how you feel letting your inner desires come out and play instead of keeping them locked in your mind forever. It allows clarity to take place and the next thing you know, you see the changes taking place in your outer world.

  1. Love this! I always find it helps me to find focus when I write things out, whether it be on desires and goals or reminding myself that I have so much to be grateful for (that I too often take for granted). Meditation is also a pretty awesome way to let all the nonsense of an over-cluttered mind wash away and regain focus on what is truly important.

  2. Thanks for reminding me how much I love meditating and writing all my thoughts down after-I used to do that and have not in awhile…. I have also been slacking on writing my gratitudes down. Why is it sometimes the littlest steps are the hardest?! Lol!

  3. Have you been in my life? I just told my friend we need to complete our visionboards for this year and have a mini party together to do it. Visionboards are so powerful and it does help you with the vision of your life to manifest!
