The term ‘man cave’ is a very popular dream word in my house. My husband often dreams of all the cool things he will put in his man cave and how awesome it will be. If you haven’t heard of this, Urban dictionary defines Man Cave as “A room, space, corner or area of a dwelling that is specifically reserved for a male person to be in a solitary condition, away from the rest of the household in order to work, play, involve himself in certain hobbies, activities without interruption. This area is usually decorated by the male that uses it without interference from any female influence.”
If you haven’t already guessed based on the description, this is a VERY distant dream for my husband as we don’t have room for him to have a ‘man cave’ that is completely his own. Since he can’t have a space of his own I thought I would make him his own essential oil man cave spray that he can use near his gaming area to at least give the scent of a ‘manly space’. Since I was making the spray, of course, I had to make sure there was a cool man cave vinyl label available in my Etsy shop!

DIY Essential Oil Man Cave Spray
This spray is incredibly easy to make, it took me all of about 2 minutes to put together. I used cedarwood, cypress and white fir essential oils to make this combo, however, there are many other scents you can use.
I polled some essential oil users and this is a list of scents (in addition to those listed above) that men in general really seem to enjoy:
- Douglas Fir
- Black Pepper
Feel free to get creative and try these different oils in your own essential oil man cave spray!
Ok, here’s the super simple recipe I made:
What You Need:
- 4oz glass spray bottle (Canadians see some options here)
- 4 oz of distilled water
- 1 tsp of witch hazel or vodka (optional) (Canadians get it here)
- 14 drops of cedarwood essential oil
- 14 drops of white fir essential oil
- 14 drops of cypress essential oil
- Man cave vinyl label (optional of course)
Using witch hazel or vodka will help to preserve the blend over time. If you don’t have these ingredients then be sure to definitely used distilled water (not tap) and make a smaller batch so it will be used over a shorter length of time.
How to Make it:
1) Add the cedarwood, white fir and cypress essential oils to the bottle followed by 1 teaspoon of witch hazel or vodka.
2) Fill the bottle (close to the top) with distilled water.
3) Add the spray top, shake and spray!
Be sure to always shake the spray before each use to ensure everything is mixed together
There you have it, super simple diy essential oil man cave spray!
