Essential Oils for Bug Bites
Itch-Be-Gone Roller Bottle Blend Recipe
This recipe comes from my Essential Oils Made Easy ebook. It is super simple to make and works very well! I have used it a number of times since camping and find it helps soothe the itch in less than 5 minutes!
What You Need:
- Glass Roller Bottle (Canadians I like this pack)
- 7 drops of Lavender
- 5 drops of Tea Tree
- 3 drops of Frankincense
- Carrier oil such as Fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, or grapeseed oil (I have used all with success)
- Label (optional) – Get yours here!
How to Make it:
- Simply add the essential oils into the empty roller bottle and fill the bottle to the top with the carrier oil of your choice.
- Add the roller bottle top and the lid. Gently shake the bottle end for end to allow everything to mix.
- You are now ready to use it! Please be sure to shake the bottle prior to each use!
Correct-X Ointment by doTERRA
Correct-X is an ointment made by doTERRA with the purpose to “clean and soothe skin that is in distress”. I brought it along with me when we went camping as I figured it would be very good to have but I didn’t plan to use it for bug bites. My skin seemed to get a bit irritated from the water so I applied Correct-X to a few spots that were bothering me and while I was at it used it on my bug bites as well. It worked really well and I was very glad to have it. I would definitely recommend having it with you on future camping trips or at outdoor events! Soothing Body Butter
When I got home my bites got super itchy after a warm shower so I used my doTERRA body butter (I could have also used my homemade body butter) and added some oils to it to help soothe my skin. I took enough body butter for both of my arms and legs and added 2 drops of lavender, 2 drops of tea tree and 2 drops of copaiba to it. I then applied it to my arms and legs and any other bites I missed. I found it to be super soothing!
You could make something similar using your favourite body butter/lotion or use this recipe to make your own body butter base.
Essential Oils for Bug Bites From Other Sources
The itch-be-gone roller, Correct-X ointment and soothing body butter are all things I used with great success, however, I thought I would share some other great recipes and ideas I have found.
